# Video Game Sales Are Strong...Really Strong

Good news for fan of video games[\[1\]](#fn:1 "see footnote"), hardware sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are 60% higher at this point in their lives than the combined sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360\. 15 months into this generation of gaming, there have been [18.94 million PS4s and 11.33 Xbox One’s sold](http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform%5Ftotals/?ref=birchtree.me). To put those numbers in perspective, the GameCube sold 21 million units in its 5 year lifespan and the original Xbox sold 24 million.

Not too bad for an industry that the tech press insist is dying.
