[Jay Peters: Harry Potter Is Getting a 10-Year-Long TV Series on Max](https://www.theverge.com/2023/4/12/23680676/harry-potter-tv-series-announced-max-hbo-warner-bros?ref=birchtree.me)

> Discovery promises that “each season will be authentic to the original books.” The original movies will still be “available to watch globally,” even with this new show in development.

Two things:

1. Committing to 10 years of a show is pretty bold, but I hope this does well. I love Harry Potter (requisite link to [Great Art from Bad People](https://birchtree.me/blog/great-art-from-bad-people/)) and I think the movies were iconic, so a TV series is a great way to try and do this story again. Get deeper on the minutia and really let us settle into the world.
2. Given Warner’s recent penitent for removing content like crazy, it is definitely worth noting that the films will remain available. Not a given with this lot.
