On this Fourth of July, I found this Reddit thread fascinating: [What's an incredibly american thing americans don't realize is american?](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/vpqznb/whats%5Fan%5Fincredibly%5Famerican%5Fthing%5Famericans%5Fdont/?ref=birchtree.me) Check it out, but a few standouts to me here:

- Prescription drug commercials. These are like half of the ads during some shows here in the U.S.
- Extremely long election campaigns. Presidential elections are typically all we hear about for over 12 months leading up to the actual vote.
- Cult-like followings of high school and college sports.
- Free refills at restaurants.
- Ranch, ranch, and ranch!
