As we get closer to the iPhone 14 announcement, and basically absolute confirmation that the Pro phones will lose the notch in favor of a dual-hole punch design, I've seen a number of tweets expressing concern that hole punches are more obstructive than the notch. I've been using Android phones with hole punches for years, and here's what I think:

1. You will notice the hole punch more at first. We're 5 years into notched iPhones, so of course the difference will be obvious at first.
2. Remember that the notch was a bit concerning when it was new too. So much ink spilled over the notch covering content, but today you don't even think about it.
3. In 2019 I made a video (since delisted, so sorry, no link) about why I think the iPhone's notch was better than hole punches. After spending more time with phones of both style, I have completely changed my position, and now I think hole punches are better in every single way. Trust me, I understand your skepticism, but actually spending more time with these types of screens changed my mind.
