Julia Evans: Things that used to be hard and are now easy

I was talking to some friends the other day about the types of conference talks we enjoyed. One category we came up with was “you know this thing that used to be super hard? Turns out now it’s easy and anyone can do it!“.

There's a common refrain you see online that goes something like, "web development used to be so easy, you just needed an index.html file and you were done!" Julia's list is a nice reminder that something that were either super-challenging or literally impossible years ago are now just…easy.

On another similar note, this video from Corridor Digital shows a deep fake running in real time on a Discord chat, which is something that took literally days to weeks to process.
