Chris Hannah: I Hope The Nothing Phone Does Well

The problem I’ve already started to see with this phone (that isn’t even released yet), is that some are already asking “Is this the iPhone killer?”. Let’s not beat around the bush. The Nothing phone (1) is not the iPhone killer. Nor will it kill any popular current major smartphone. And it doesn’t need to.

I’m rooting for the Nothing phone as well, even though it’s not for me.

This is also where I remind people that it’s okay for media to talk about products that aren’t as popular as iPhones and Galaxy devices. Tech Twitter gets irrationally mad whenever outlets talk about the Pixel, and I’ve seen people show that same dismissiveness to Nothing coverage as well.

A device doesn’t have to be topping the sales charts to be interesting. Just ask Apple in the 90s how relevant a company with a sliver of the market can be 🙂
