The Oddest A.I. Opinion I’ve Read so Far
Brian X. Chen, Nico Grant, and Karen Weise: How Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant Lost the A.I. Race
The excitement around chatbots illustrates how Siri, Alexa and other voice assistants — which once elicited similar enthusiasm — have squandered their lead in the A.I. race.

Readwise Reader is the Best Read Later Service for Apple News+ Subscribers
I recently started giving Apple News another shot. I'm an Apple One subscriber, so I figured why the hell not, I'm paying for it, after all. My issue is that my reading habits are based around RSS and a read later service (Readwise). Personally, I want to find things to read

Dan Kois: That Oscar Absolutely Should Have Gone to My Year of Dicks
I’m here to tell you that yes, it is too bad My Year of Dicks didn’t win. And while even the most diehard cinema fans don’t usually spend a lot of time talking about the shorts categories at the

Walter Chaw: It Took Me Nearly 40 Years to Stop Resenting Ke Huy Quan
I carried resentment of these characters with me into adulthood. They amplified my feelings of otherness. I grew up wanting to be Luke Skywalker in a culture that could only see Asian men as sexless sidekicks or (also sexless) kung fu

Eric M.: Single-User Mastodon Instance Is a Bad Idea
If you're thinking about setting up your own single-user Mastodon instance for similar reasons, I urge you not to do it. The user experience is so broken that it's baffling that anyone would find it acceptable.

The Coincidence of Our Generation
No, your phone isn't constantly listening to you so it can show you ads. What does that even mean? Apple is recording everything you say to let Google sell you ads online? That sounds insane, because it is, but millions of people believe it. They'll happily share anecdotes about how they
