John Gruber linked to this amazing article from 1998:

The iMac doesn’t include a floppy disk drive for doing file backups or sharing data. It’s an astonishing lapse from Jobs, who should have learned better.

And:

I’d bet that 98% of computer users use a floppy from time to time, or print out documents. The iMac simply writes these users off and targets an “elite” who’ll pay more for less if it comes with an Apple logo on it.

This was an amazing read. As an iPad user, that second quote hits home as hard today as it did back then.
