Bouncing Back

Oh man, has it been a week! It started normally enough, but it quickly turned into something else. First off, work was hectic. The holiday season is always crazy for me, and this is the week it really picked up. There were new team members to train, visits from higher-ups, and a bunch of processes to coordinate. As a "person in charge," this added up to some long, and sometimes stressful days. I got home each day, ready to relax.

Relaxing has proven a little hard to do, since we're dog-sitting a year old Bichon Frisé. His name's Toby, and he looks like this.

Oh yeah, and he's a handful. A couple of handfuls, as it turns out. My wife and I are playing with this little guy, and he loves it. I don't hate it either, but it's definitely made me less "productive" when I'm at home. Frankly, I don't know how you guys with kids and blogs do it. Kudos for finding the time!

The icing on top is that I was also a little sick earlier in the week. It wasn't too bad, but it prevented me from recording my podcast this week, something I haven't missed in the 4 months since it started. Awesome.

I'm also coming off my most prolific year of writing I've ever had. By my count, I posted here 340 times in 2014!. By any measure, that's crapton of content. I also ran my music blog for the whole year, and started a podcast.

We all deserve breaks every now and then. It doesn't matter how much you love your work, sometimes you just need some separation. Usually you'd like to choose when that break happens. You know, give people some warning, and get yourself ready to chill. Sometimes you just hit that moment when you have to stop and take a break right now. That's what I hit on Monday this week, and I think I just came out of it today.

It's time to bounce back...right before I take some planned time off for Christmas. Ah well, I won't complain about a double vacation.
