Not Everything Related to Twitter is a Controversy

Ryan Mac and Kate Conger: Twitter Said to Consider Selling User Names to Boost Revenue

It’s unclear if the project will move forward and if the plan affects all user names or only a subset, the people said. But Mr. Musk said last month that he wanted to start eliminating inactive accounts on Twitter and free up 1.5 billion user names. Only certain user names — such as those of well-known people, brands and popular names — may have value.

Look, I'm all for dragging Musk's Twitter for it's shitty behavior, but this story really reads like someone suggested this in a brainstorming session and it will never actually come to pass. Companies have tons of bad ideas floated internally and we can't judge them on the things that were just proposed.
