This is a really cool idea that I first read about in the book, Where Good Ideas Come From and I couldn't help but make a quick video giving an introduction to the concept.

I didn't even have time to talk about it in the video, but this concept is also credited with being the reason that we have so many instances of "simultaneous invention" where two (or more) people come up with the same innovation at the same time despite not knowing anything about each other.
