Dare I To Dream?
Mock up via Luke Miani

Luke Miani has some potentially big leaks, and if they're true, they're pretty exciting.

The Mac Studio

I don't fully understand this product. It's the xMac many of us have dreamed of for 20 years, but I don't quite see how it fits into today's world. The suggestion is that it would have the M1 Pro and Max chips in it, which is fantastic, but when you can get those same chips in a laptop form factor, I think that's going to appeal to a lot more people.

A Mac Mini and MacBook Air with the same specs are slightly different, ($899 vs $1,249, or 28% cheaper), so if we extrapolate that to the cheapest 14" MacBook Pro, the Mac Studio with M1 Pro chip might start at $1,449, which is pretty beefy. Maybe they can go even lower since the other components (like the screen) on the new MacBook Pros cost more?

I don't have a place in my life for this product, and I'm not sure off the bat who that market is, but I'm always open to them existing.

The Studio Display

Now we're talking! While last week's rumors of a 7K display higher end than the current Pro Display XDR baffled me as "a perfect combo for professional work," a lower end display aimed at regular humans and not the ultra-well-off gets me far more excited.

Obviously I'm expecting something north of $1,000, but I am maintining hope that this will be something I can at least save up for and spending money on, which is not something I was able to say about the Pro Display XDR.

I'm excited for tomorrow's event and look forward to seeing if these are real.
