On the New Apple Watch Info
Mark Gurman is having quite the week for leaks. This time it's all about the Apple Watch companion app coming to the iPhone with the watch is released in a few months. As someone who has basically decided they're 100% in on buying one when they come out, I was extremely interested in this. So what did we learn?
You can organize the icons on the watch face. We had to assume we'd be able to, but this confirms it. I'm a little worried about having too much on that app selection screen, but knowing that it can be customized lessen my worry a bit.
You can set up stock replies to text messages. While talking into my watch is futuristic, there are going to be tons of situations where I don't want to do that.
You have fine-grain control over what notifications get to go to your watch. This is critical. Not only do you get to choose what apps get to notify your wrist, some apps let you get even more specific. For example, in Messages you'll be able to say "I want notifications for texts from my family and close friends, but my Amazon updates can stay on my phone."
