My Home Screens: May 2015

This post is way late this month. Blame the many things going on right now in my non-blogging life (all good things, don’t worry) or my current Watch obsession, but I wanted to get this out there, even if it’s very brief.

The biggest difference here is obviously the new hardware. I'm sporting a brand new iPhone 6 plus, and #mykewasright because this phone is great. I love the bigger size, iPad-like apps, and better camera, but I love nothing more than the bonkers battery in this thing. I am getting though long days with ease, even with a constant bluetooth connection to my Apple Watch.

What’s New?

Overcast has replaced Pocket Casts for now. I really need the Watch app, and Pocket Casts has not released one yet. I love Marco, but if Pocket Casts can make a solid Watch app, I’ll be back.

Apple Watch has an app and it’s on my home screen for now. This is also coming off soon, as I have my Watch set up pretty much how I want it.

Activity is a very nice app for tracking activity. I don’t think it’s perfect, but it does make me think about my activity in more sophisticated terms than simply how many steps I take in a day. It’s a very solid entry from Apple. I like this app so much that I uninstalled FitBit from my phone. I never thought I’d do that!

Lifesum has replaced MyFitnessPal. It does all the same things, but has a nicer looking app. In practice, I’m not entirely sold on it. I’m going to keep using it and see if it grows on me.

Opinion is a podcast recording, editing, and publishing app for iOS and it’s fantastic! I have a lot to say about this, and I’m going to share those feelings on a podcast recorded and edited with the app. This is a big deal!

There is so much less to say about an Apple Watch watch face, but I’ll do my best.

Watch Face: Chronograph

I use this watch face because it’s analog, shows the date on the face (not a complication), and has a stopwatch built into the face. That blue button in the top right makes the face morph into a stopwatch, lap times and all.

Complications

Current temperature because it’s spring in the Midwest.

Activity because I want to see my progress throughout the day.

Timer because I set a lot of timers.

I told you it would be quick!
