I'll Stop Talking About Twitter When it Stops Sucking

Iconfactory Blog: State of the Twitterverse

Last night at about 7:30pm PST, Twitterrific customers started reporting problems accessing Twitter via the iOS app.

As of writing, it's now almost 48 hours since most of the popular Twitter apps stopped working and there has been no communication at all from Twitter on what's going on. I confirmed this on Tweetbot, Twitterrific, and Talon (Android), although Spring continues to work for the time being.

There are several possibilities here.

  1. This is a bug, and Twitter simply hasn't fixed a hard down on their API for several days, nor have they communicated to their customer about this outage.
  2. They're killing third party app and are oddly choosing to kill off the big apps first and then move down the line to smaller ones.

So either they're incompetent or they're killing the third party ecosystem; either way they suck.

Well, let's be real, Elon sucks.

Like I said a few days ago, you don't need to come up with exaggerated things to be upset with Twitter about, just wait a few days and they'll give you something legitimately stupid.
