Kiona N. Smith: Cloudflare explains why Kiwi Farms was its most dangerous customer ever

In a short time, Cloudflare watched as Kiwi Farms mutated from a valid customer in need of Cloudflare’s protection from cybersecurity attacks conducted by people complaining about the “revolting content” it hosts to suddenly appearing to pose an “imminent threat to human life.”

I don’t think anyone has to speak up about every issue. It’s absolutely okay not to have a public opinion on everything.

That said, I do think what you choose to speak out about is important, both in terms of what you actually believe and what it makes others think you believe. When you never speak out in favor of the rights and physical safety of minority groups, but always speak out in support of hateful groups like Kiwi Farms getting to carry on without friction, you should at the very least consider what this looks like to the rest of the world.
